Chase Card Services announced the addition of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company as its newest Ultimate Rewards point transfer partner. Under the new partnership, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, and Ink Bold cardmembers will be able to instantly transfer Ultimate Rewards points to their Ritz-Carlton Rewards account at full value. There are no restrictions or limits to the number of points cardmembers can transfer. Bank of America will offer a limited number of mortgage customers who are facing foreclosure an opportunity to remain in their homes through a pilot program called Mortgage to Lease. Eligible participants will transfer title to their properties to the bank and have their outstanding mortgage debt forgiven. In exchange, they may lease their home for up to three years at or below the current market rental rate. The pilot program will be conducted strictly on a solicitation basis in order to maintain test controls; fewer than 1,000 customers will be invited to participate in the first phase of the pilot. PayPal announced the launch of PayPal Here, a mobile payments solution that allows small businesses to process credit and debit card payments and send invoices. The new service includes a free app and fully encrypted thumb-sized card reader, compatible with any iPhone, and soon Android smartphones. PayPal Here offers a competitive fee structure with no monthly account or set-up fees; merchants pay a simple flat rate of 2.7% for card swipes and PayPal payments.
