E*Trade has introduced mobile deposit for Android and iPhone, enabling retail and business customers to electronically deposit checks into their brokerage or E*Trade Bank accounts remotely with the use of their Android or iPhone camera. To make a mobile deposit, eligible customers simply photograph the front and back of a paper check with the Android or iPhone’s built-in camera, and upload electronically via E*Trade’s mobile banking and investing application, E*Trade Mobile Pro. Chase released its Blackberry application which allows person-to-person payments as well as mobile check deposits. These two new features, called QuickPay and QuickDeposit, allow the customer to make money movement transactions to other people with an email address or phone number and make paper check deposits by taking a picture of the check with a smartphone and sending it to Chase.
