Capital One Bank’s Financial Literacy Challenge is a community program that encourages the spread of financial education throughout Long Island communities. Participants (schools, clubs, nonprofits, community groups, and branches of city, state, and local government) can submit their application by 06.14.2013 for a chance to be a part of the 2013-2014 program. Capital One will award 15-20 $5,000 grants that will be designated to financial education programs. Two additional $15,000 grants will go to the winners of the Financial Literacy Challenge. Six Columbus, MO area banks (BancorpSouth, Regions Bank, BankFirst, Renasant Bank, Cadence Bank, and StateFarm Bank) are competing in The Duck Adoption Challenge to sell the most ducks for The Great Tombigbee Duck Race. The winning duck will win at least $5,000 with the possibility of winning up to $1,000,000. The race is to benefit Columbus-Lowndes Habitat for Humanity and will take place at The Columbus Riverwalk on 06.08.2013.
